The inventory of Egyptian and Algerian air forces looks very strong. Could the two airforces have been able to stop US+NATO when they attacked Libya in 2011 ?

war isn't that simple , plus in libya it was a little more complicated , it was a civil war with internal insurgency .

in a another hand NATO = 28 countries ! and some big fish in this world , United States , United Kingdom , France, Germany, Italy , Spain ,Turkey , Netherlands , Canada , Belgium ,Bulgaria , Czech Repblic ,Denmark ,Estonia , Greece ,Hungary ,Iceland, Latvia , Lithuania ,Luxembourg ,Norway ,Poland ,Portugal ,Romania ,Slovakia ,Slovenia .

algeria or egypt can make any agressor pay a big price for any agression but can't win a total war against NATO !

I dont think US+NATO were ready to go all the way like they did with in Iraq a decade earlier in fact had the whole of North Africa+Zimbabwe rallied behind Libya the US+NATO forces would have been forced to abandon the "intervention" as Russia would be sucked in the debacle and a World War would have happened. You dont need to be as big as the enemy to scare off the enemy.

Ever heard of the concept of deterrence
The use of threats by one party to convince another party to refrain from initiating some course of action.

All Algeria, Egypt , Sudan , Tunisia , Morocco and Zimbabwe had to do was fly their fighters into the NATO created no fly zone.

Skyhawk, I think you are missing a major point: geo-politics.

Many of those countries you mentioned are US/Western allies. The US would have consulted with them prior to any invasion, either for their political support, military cooperation, use of airspace, etc.

But we are getting way off topic here. This is about the Egyptian airforce.

You could not have said it any better. I remember who pays the Egyptian fighter pilot's salary: USA.

But i reckon without Western influence North African air forces were capable of defending Libya against Nato.

Nice pics of the MiG-35. Some comments :
a) that blue hurts my eyes
b) much better nose profile than the original -29UB
c) is that a Kruger flap on the LERX ?
