Today we recall the tragic loss of SAS President Kruger off Cape Point 35 years ago. May those young & brave who lost their lives Rest in Peace.

I was still in high school at the time but I remember that day well, hearing the news from one of my teachers. I later found out that one of those lost was my distant relative, PO Hjalmar Lotter.

PK was the only one of the three that I never went onboard, although I stood on the quayside next to her during a Simon's Town Dockyard tour about a month before the accident.

I have also kept that front page of The Argus all these years.

And so the years roll by.

My dad was a lucky survivor who was on board PK at the time of the incident.

Rosh...that is hectic. Some painful memories there I'm sure. I cannot access the link you provided however.

Hi Doug. Yes, he doesn't like speaking much of the events that took place.
