Hi,

I'm looking for this specific type of helmet that was used by 2 Squadron during the Cheetah era. If you know of the whereabouts of one that is available, please send me the details.

Made by Lafe in Benoni. I bought some spares from them for one of the pilots, but that was probably about 2005.

Items like oxygen mask were supplied by the SAAF or ARMSCOR.

Thanks for the info CheetahSupporter. I managed to get hold of Andre the previous owner of the company, unfortunately he sold the company, and no contact details of the current business.

I looked up the address Yellow Pages gives in Howard Street - that matches where I remember visiting them. They may moved on or closed by now, but worth trying to phone them.

I have this one in collection, same squadron but you are after the "lightweight" version as done in Europe in the late 80's with Gentex HGU26/P turned into HGU55/P (the visor housing was also removed and the visors attached with straps )
