Good day all,
I am a former French Air Force officer and have taken an interest in collecting watches. The SAAF had some great watches issued, much better than the ones we were getting! I am looking for a Lemania 5012, that's the one that was issued in the early 80s. Please PM me if you have one in good condition and would consider selling it.
Best,
Tomchi

You'll have to stand in line Tomchi, these are rare as hen's teeth. Good luck!

Hi

I don't know much about this watch, why is it so collectable?

You are right H1017412, they are rare! Two batches of 400 were delivered, many were destroyed, who knows how many are left in good condition...
Mars, although not a widely known watch brand like Rolex or Omega, Lemania was a trusted supplier of many armed forces. This particular watch has a solid mechanism and a very simple, minimalist design that yet provides all necessary information to pilots. No gimmicks nor distractions there, which makes the watch very easy to read. It is a design driven by functionality, and I think they did a great job. I believe a lot a pilots during the Border War were using this watch. While we the French supplied the Mirages and the Allouettes, the Swiss supplied the watches!
It is a rare watch, collected by a fairly small group of enthusiasts, hence a very narrow market. I'd love to be the pround owner of one of these, so please let me know if you have one or know where I can find one!

Thanks Mars! Seems like that one is gone unfortunately... :(
To all those who have a Lemania 5012 in good condition, I'll pay one million dollar (or less) and will mow your lawn for 1 year (only valid if you live within 2 blocks of my house). Please send me a message!
