I need help to positively identify this badge please. is it a 140 Radar Squadron South African Air Force 1980s Bush War era cloth patch?
or something else.

That is the 140 Squadron ops patch.

Correct, issued during the Border War to those involved in Ops.

I just started collecting and do not have any books or reference material thus far.

I'm no expert but it is pretty scarce. Value always depends on what a person is willing to pay I would say that around £40 would be a fair price.

thank you so much for the info, really appreciate it, I tried so many google searches and came up with nothing, then I contacted "experts" in south africa that told me that it is french and worth nothing, then a guy in america told me it is South African, then to confirm I posted it here.

So at least I have a nice piece in my starter collection

Hi Collector. This is the SAAF 140 squadron Ops badge earned by serving as a radar operator in the operational area during operations. I earned mine in 1984/5.
