Hey guys!

I'm currently in grade 11 at Greenside High. My school is having a job shadowing programme from the 10-12 of December. I'd like to shadow someone at SAAF, preferably a pilot.

My LO textbook for this year had a case study about a girl that job shadowed at an airforce base, and I'd like to do the same, if it's at all possible.

I am most definitely going to be a pilot, albeit a commercial pilot because of eyesight :cry: , but since I've already shadowed at a civilian flight school, I thought shadowing at an AFB would be an interesting experience.

Do you know of anyone that I can contact about this? Unfortunately, I do not have a telephone or fax machine, so I cannot call or fax them, so from the contact details I found, posting a letter seems like my only option. Will anyone reply to a letter?

Phone the Corporate Communication Officer of the airforce base closest to you (AFB Waterkloof or AFB Swartkop).

Given the state of the SA Post Office and response times of the SAAF, I don't think posting is a good idea. They will most likely request that you email them the request.

Also consider contacting the Harvard club, SAA Museum and SAAF Museum.

Whilst not front line they are more geared for volunteer work and can always use a hand.

Good morning!

I'd just like to thank everyone on here for their help! I was able to arrange to job shadow at AFB Waterkloof!

For anyone that reads this that has the same question as me in the future, I'd say just call them until you find someone that helps!
