If you want one in working condition you will first have to get an amateur radio operator's licence. See - http://www.sarl.org.za/public/licences/licences.asp
Contact a club near you - http://www.sarl.org.za/public/local/ClubsList.asp
The next exam is on 17 May, the deadline for registration is next Thursday 10 April. If that's too close, the following exam is in October.

I think you'll find that Hxxx is a tad far from SA to comply with our regs.

So you can just go and give the radio to me. 8)
