Hello folk

There is a model supplier in Vancouver, Canada who owns Modelcraft, he has a number of 1/72 Shackletons up for sale, with SAAF decals. He bought the plastic parts from Russia, these are from the Frog kits, so real old. Was once boxed by Revell and others.
I bought one of his kits, the wings are warped, but buildable. One prop blade was broken off, the plastic parts are bagged. They are what they are, and no I do not regret buying it.

Quote from the seller.
Quote:
NOTE: THESE ARE OLD KITS, ORIGINATING FROM THE 1960'S, & THE QUALITY OF PLASTIC, THE TOOLING, THE RIVETS
& THE ACTUAL MOLDING ARE NOT LIKE TODAY'S NEAR PERFECT MODEL KITS. THE PRICE REFLECTS THIS, HOWEVER THEY ARE THE ONLY SHACKLETON KITS AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW. THEY ARE SOLD "AS IS" & IT IS PREFERRED THEY ARE BOUGHT BY EXPERIENCED MODEL BUILDERS, AS THEY ARE NOT FOR BEGINNERS

Single kit plus shipping is $15 + $18 = $33 which is about R295

2 kits, 2 decal sheets, 1 set of plans is $25 + $28 shipping = $53, about R472

6 kits, 2 decal sheets, 1 set of plans is $45 +$45 shipping = $90, about R800.

A group of you could get together and split the costs. If the demand was for 4 kits, you could ask. Plans can be photo copied. Dean has the means to supply early and late bokkie decals for R77.
Don't forget import duty, Zuma wants his slice.

And no. There is nothing in it for me!

I take it what he is saying is they are the only 1/72 Shackleton kits that are new that have never been sold to the public.
I beleave this is the only mold made in 1/72.

Forgot to add link to find them. I bought about 10 models from him in the past. He uses ebay as his online shop. He sells his new kits and sells unwanted kits for other people.

To his 3 Shackleton listings:

Or to his shop and enter search "1/72 Shackleton":

It's a shame the 1/144 kit costs a bloody fortune (~£40), looks like it comes with decals for SAAF 1716, 1717, and 1722... Two castles and one bokkie roundel.

Worth a look if anyone's interested:

Only place I could find that has a picture of the kit.

Anyways, I'm out of here so that I stop hijacking your thread!

Who would still be interested in a 1/72 Shackleton kit? I would really like 1 in my collection of SAAF builds. Seeing that it is cheaper to buy directly from the Canadian supplier, and the more you buy the cheaper it gets per kit.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOB-LOT-6-KITS-MODELCRAFT-1-72-SCALE-AVRO-SHACKLETON-MR-3-MODEL-KIT-/190899667893

1 x kit approx. R400
2 x kits approx. R516 (R258/kit)
6 x kits approx. R919 (R153/kit)

Note that the pricing is without import duty/handling/shipping tax

Is there someone willing to share to import say 6 kits?

I have made a number of purchases from this gentleman, I have met him twice.
He has various piles of plastic sets that he is / was reboxing under his brand, "Modelcraft".
He has offered me kits for less than his ebay price. He is open to sending a large order to SA. I'm not talking on his behalf, just discussions we had some time ago.

You probably could get a Shackleton from him for C$10 (+/- R100), that is based on what he said to me when I spoke to him regarding sending kits to SA if anyone wanted his kits. I can't remember if that included a box or decals.
I have bought two of these kits from him, they are the old "Frog", from Russia that have been reboxed by a number of brand names like Revell. I will warn you, they are warped, but are buildable as long as you have patience and time. They come in a bag with parts broken off trees, the original packaging form Russia. My one kit had some props that were short shot, so when I saw him, he gave me another kit. You may also end up with prop blades broken off, which won't stop you in your tracks. If you take two kits, he may charge a bit less per kit.

Other kits he has piles of plastic sets, they are:

1/48 Harvard ("Ocidental" yellow plastic), it comes with the long cold climate exhaust, I built this kit and is posted on this forum as an SAAF bird after modyfying the exhaust.

1/48 AT-6G ("Occidental" grey plastic), has different rear window to Harvard, stubby exhaust, has been reboxed by Heller and Italeri. One of these kits appear in a group build from Heller, as well as others.
I think you could get the Ocidental kits for about C$10 a pice.

The above I have discussed with him as they are SAAF related and were of interest to me and perhaps SA modllers.
The items below I have not discussed, some are SAAF related, they were all Modelcraft related sets he purchased to re box. I know some he has (hundreds of ?). Most don't come in a box, some without decals. What I say on below items is on my assumption, I'm just pointing them out!!!!

For shipping, it is more economical to ship 12 kits than 4 kits, he send it tracked.

If you want to see what I mean by hundreds. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WHOLESALE-100-KITS-1-72-SCALE-HALIFAX-BOMBER-EX-REVELL-PLASTIC-MODEL-KITS-/190902362848?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2c72aae2e0#ht_2841wt_896

1/72 Wellington (Russian mould), I don't know who's mould or price, I see he is offering on ebay 6 kits for C$26, that is just over C$4 each. One set of decals. He warns about the quality of these kits.
