Look and save a life.

Do you remember those plastic warnings in public places / government buildings? It was a plastic ... kind of relief of various ummm... shall we use the euphemism "Soviet supplied" weapons, I remember there being an AK-47 / AKM, a limpet mine and some grenades of a type that I can't recall off hand.

Anyway - if anyone has one for sale, I'd like to buy it please. The last that I ever saw one was in 12/2005 in a Pretoria north nature reserve. I tried to persuade the Oom behind the counter to sell it to me but he refused point blank. I haven't even seen a picture of them on the internet. If The Trommel had to have one I'd be mightily pleased :P

You've actually seen them? Where?

My hometown museum has one just stashed away in a storeroom - they collected a variety of "trash" when the local Commando closed down.

RtD - this is a long shot but what are the chances of you being able to "liberate" it?

Perhaps not? I'm really keen on it and am happy to pay a reasonable price for it.

When I last heard they were planning an exhibit that might include some of the former Commando's history. So I doubt it will become available for disposal anytime soon.

No problem Roger.

If you do see it in the future, would you mind awfully if I asked you to take a high resolution picture of it please? If I can't get the real thing, I'd be happy with a photograph in the interim.
