Post subject:  Army Boots?
Here's odd question that I have been meaning to ask for a while.

I see that SANDF soldiers wear one of two styles of combat boots.

1) Traditional black leather lace ups with tread with tread.
2) Red leather boots with a buckle and flat tan soles.

What is the purpose of the red boots and why do some soldiers wear black boots and others the red?

AFAIK the brown ("red") boots are Army issue while the Navy and Air Force wear black boots. I'm not sure what the medics wear.

Just to clarify, the boots in question refer specifically to Army issue. There are also the brown leather boots which are similar to the the black ones.

At the Rand Show capability demo it looked like the infantry used the black boots whilst the mortar and medic teams used the red boots.

I will post a few cropped photos later on to show what I am on about
