I wonder how many "combat ready" personel the sandf has to support the saps during the lockdown.

In the KATORUS deployments of mid 90's we were thinly spread of and now they have to do the whole country.

Back then we had 1 SAP member with every patroll who had the "arrest powers" and the rest backed him up.

What percentage of the SANDF combat force is in peace keeping ops elsewhere or have they been recalled?

Will be interesting to see if we will have Mamba APC's in the streets of suburbs

Great speech, certainly the SANDF's most important mission yet.

This is why SANDF needs to be well funded and resourced. May the SANDF never have to face another budget cut again.

Ten companies, one for each province and an extra one for Gauteng - ridiculously small number, hardly worth the paperwork.

I saw on the news last night 1 Mamba in the JHB area. Seems even admin personel are being used because there was one person in camo that could in NO way pass a fitness test I am sure. The "derriere area" was really large and I can not see how this person could be combat ready, or maybe the standards these days are less I dont know.

Now I am not dissing this person or the SANDF atall, I am just remarking that this one particular person (to my view) seemed out of place with the rest of the soldiers

Maybe they are so thinly spread that every one even close to G1K1 is being used to patroll with the saps.
