After 36 years of service ... the super successful Israeli F-16's have been retired.
Quote:
36 years of operational activity have come to an end this morning as the "Netz" (F-16A/B) landed from their flight and shut off the engine for the last time. The IAF parts from the first of F-16 aircraft that are leaving a hefty past behind them and a promising future ahead. "The 'Netz' is not an object – it has a soul"

Interresting, thanks. Those F-16A/Bs have been significantly upgraded since delivery. Of course, the F-16C/D/I still remains in service.

One of the better air forces out there - years of operational experience, with a variety of enemies around them, these guys had to stay VERY SHARP for decades.
Found a few extremely interesting clips on the IAF, on Youtube of course. An ace with kills to die for, being engaged by 10 Migs, but like he tells - they can only fire from the 6 position, and he ended up having SO many targets around him.

Youtube search Israeli ace - lovely guy telling his story.
