Good day

I'm new to the forum and would like to share my 1/10 scale RC Ratel 90 built. Firstly as a SAAF veteran i'm doing the built to honour all war veterans that gave their time and "life" as these days it seems the new south africa try to make you feel guilty that you served your country with pride!

The ratel was also the first weapon designed and produced locally due to international sanctions for the bush war and are now sold througout the world.

The model is made from 0.9mm ABS plastic with a Tamiya 4wd chassis re-engineered to 6wd. size is as follows:
Lenth: 560mm
Width: 190mm
Height: 200mm

Here is some photos of the built thus far

First paint scheme i want to try is the normal army brown, MAVdecals is busy designing the various insignia I want to add which include t-55 tank kills, however I think the three tone camo paint scheme as seen lately on some ratels will look better.

Thanks, my next project is already on the drawing board, G6 rhino. However I do plan to built a RC Caspir later but to get the correct RC chassis to fit the scale model is the difficult and expensive part.

Wowzer! Brilliant. These were just so cool back in the early eighties in Tsumeb where I grew up. They and the Elands, Kwevoels, Samils etc. etc. 61 Mech was part of the Tsumeb community back then and our heroes. Got a lot of condensed milk from the troopies also :smt023

Ahh, memories!

Brgds

At 1:10 scale you can use empty .357Magnum cases, with the rim cut down on a lathe, as decorative items. I heard somewhere they are almost perfectly 1:10 scale of the F1 90mm cases.

Very nice sir!

From my observations, they do this as they are bitter that their revolution of taking over SA with Moscow and Co's help and dictate as they please failed.
In the end, with Moscow pulling out, they had to deal with the devil's.
1. The Nats that helped them to set up a new constitution that is not part of their revolution ideals, and they shared power with the Nats to learn the ropes of governance.
2. SA private business that lays the golden egg that fuels them.

After 18 years, they still talk about nationalisation despite proof that it is a failed model.
If it was not for those of the bush war period that kept them and Moscow out, they would have done as they pleased, they would have nationalised our businesses, our farms, our homes, just like they did in the DDR, Mozambique etc. I've been in the DDR a number of times where they measure the waiting time for a new car in "decades", bravo! The state is for the people.

So sir, feel proud that SA still has the freedom for what these manne did, it is just one sided, bitter politics. :smt023
