I pressed further on the base before my weekend spend hiking in the snow covered mountains.
Static grass was applied together with some flowers to get some spring vibes. Small turfs and static grass were airbrushed with two shades of green to tie it together and blooms painted with oil paint. Some touch ups with tamiya flat earth were required but nothing fancy.

Later on I made a little progress on the base, just a bit of toning with oil paints so there's nothing much to photograph there.
I managed to broke my figures two ago, both missing their heads, one almost eaten by carpet monster and few hands pinged away too. So I finally managed to find enough mental strenght to put these back together, overpaint the cracks and made some minor adjustments. And than, guess what. One of the figures fell out of my hand and was beheaded again  But I finally managed to put them both together repair all the demage and even work further on their paintjob. I still felt that these are bit cold and blur so I added final layer of highly diluted red brown to skin parts which brought some warm to them no longer looking like zombies. Their berets were also overpainted with base of grey color and than diluted layers of black. Once everything was dry, I applied dark brown enemal wash on them that was blended to further enhance shadows, seems and so on. I let them dry overnight and these were sprayed with tamiya flat varnish diluted with IPA (that's the only combination that gives me flat surface).
I'm not a professional figure painter, honestly these are my 2nd and 3rd figures after being out of this hobby for a few years. But honestly, these are no longer a necessary evil and I'm not afraid of them anymore.

I’m keeping No.19 wireless set aerials/antennas stored away as final piece to be glued to this vehicle together with commander cupola hatch as “easy to knock item” but haven’t thought about figures too  I put them in safe box to keep them secured till the finish just in case #-o
I’m really looking forward to finishing this up and starting something new. It’s going to be either Jeep Willys with Universal carrier or Sherman V from liberation of Firenze. Later one being with rather challenging base with tall street building recreating this photo

I guess this is going to be last update before this kit is finished. I worked on the base for past few weeks as you already saw. It was kind of back and forth because I decided to use diluted oil brushers to further play with coloring of the earth. Unfortunatelly these dried glossy and grainy which created a really bad looking mud and dirt.

I decided that I will push further with the tank itself and added some splashes, dry pigments and fuel stains. With all that done, I mixed AK terrain paste with Vallejo acrylics and applied it into those shallow imprints where tank should sit. I pressed the tank into the paste and made some touch ups with this paste applied with small old brush mainly around tracks.

When everything was set there was no other option than pull out my airbrush and overspray the ground. To get some depth, I diluted some AK muddy ground enamel product and used it as a wash and in bith thicker layer in places, where I wanted some contrasts and shadows.

With tank and base almost ready, I made one last improvement on the figures consisting of cables leading from headsets and microphone down into the vehicle. I glued black plastic plates into the turret and attached figures to them in their final possition which required double amputation of commander lower limbs  . Further work sonsisted of gluing empty shells and empty paper containers to the base and No.19 set aerials and commander hatch to the turret.

I should pick up 3D printed horn during this coming weekend which will be painted together with towing device and attached to the tank. Small label for the base is going to be attached and this will render finish of this build.

BTW: You can spot a new box of yet another Sherman in the background of the first photo

I painted, chipped and washed both parts and applied some dust&dirt deposit and splashes on towing hook. Both parts were than attached to the tank and since there was enough light, I took a photos of everything together.
I’ll just make some touch ups on ammunition containers stacked behind the tank and that should render this build finished, but I’m open for any advices what you’d adjust.
Kit itself is going to be displayed on small local show this weekend.
