Much to the anoyence of Malcom I started this "ground target build"
Academy Maghach of the IDF during the 80's.
It is basically a very up armours and armed M-60 Patton MBT but also uses the Merkava trive train.

I looked at some vids of weathering on armour I want to try.

You need to make it realistic by burning some holes through the turret to represent a hit or two from some Egyptian APFSDS or HEAT rounds

Neewat. these were tough tanks and in the Negev they moced to fast to be hit
Starting to look like a modern MBT now....there are a load of little things onto this model!

Primer on, then base black for shading effect. I now need to find a match for the Israeli sand grey in Tamiya acrylic :?: :?: :?:
I got primer on and then a black basecoat over all , this will be lightened in some areas to give "shade" effect when the colour goes on.

As an experiment I looked at Humbrol yellow sand but was to "yellow to me" so I tried Tamiya 74 enamels.

Here is the base with the highlights on it

Then I sht the tamiya over it in thin coats till I got an even look with shadows just showing through, the sides and bottom O added a drop of black to look like it is bleached a little less.

This is an interesting colour indeed, in bright sun it looks very grey

But indoors where it will be viewed mostly the clopor changes to a more tan.

The pre shadows worked rather well arround areas like the round hatches ect.

Looking at loads of magach pix I tried my had at doing the dust weathering using a mix of different chalk pastles and the "wear surface" I used a graphite pencle to look like bare steel.

The tracks I had to tie together with cotton thread as only one set of the pins reached the holes but kept comming off, lucky the sideskirts will hide this

This dust is as close to the Sainai as I can match from pix

Done. first time I tried "black basing" for shadows. The dust is pastel powder.

The metal look of the tracs was added with grapite, silver paint seems to be to "silver"

I also played with making a "filter" with water colour to alter the paint look on the front section of the sideskirt wthout being to much
