Humbrol 29 dark earth with some white and radome tan to get it "right" the green was Model master "french khaki" that I think out the bottle looks surprizingly OK, much closer than the humbrol 30 dark green.

G, the guys in 6855 didn't need a toilet to do a #2 when they got hit
Does the cargo door split in half and open like a clamshell, the front part swings forward and the rear part to the rear? Was the internal colour of the door also green and cream , or just cream?

Thanx

Very nice :smt023
Did you not have any fit issues on the front windshield? I managed to mess mine up while fitting it

Thanks guys
I managed to break the front winshield in half, seems like the gap for the windsheild is bigger than the windsheild itself.
I replaced mine with some clear plasticard and used some filler to fill the gaps, other than that the kit had great fit and was quit easy to assemble.

It seems that the breaking of the windshield is a "standard" thing in this kit, I was just plain lucky not to do the same. In my kit the gap needed to be enlarged to fit the windshield, but I will only know once the masking comes off [-o<

Pitty the kit does not supply the top "towlrails" they will be a pain to build :(

I attached the UC legs last night, but one of the main oleo legs was broken at the hindge ,very small area to try and glue......hoping it will hold.

I assume the prop tips for 55 was the red and white ???

Thanx for the info G :smt023

T,6855 had yellow tips to the props, there were a few ( very few) that had the later red and white tips.

The secret is to build them with plastic rod before you paint the model.

Don't forget the extra aerial that 6855 had on top of the fuselage towards the rear, roughly above the door area.

I've noticed no primer coat on the models before they are painted.

Do you guys apply a primer coat prior to the application of the outer coat?

Are the models washed with a mild kitchen soap to remove any mould residue

Rats! I'll have to move it then, I used the hole provided for the whipp antenna above the last right window, no biggy. I did make the towl rails from some extra thin sprue, will have to do for now.

Did 55 only have the standard pitot tubes and the one antenna behind it on the fuse forward bottom with the wire tinking them???

I did a little bit of wash arround the cowl flasp and the hindge lined to give some depth, but nothing in the pannellines really. I usually only do a pannel line wash if the plane is only one collour, with the cammo the shape is (for me) broken up enough.
I might add some oil stains to the engine necells and the bottom of the fuselarge after matt clear is on.ALso some fuel stains on at the filler caps.

G- I very seldome use a primer before paint (unless it is Airfix trenches) and yes I wash the model before painting aswell as sand it with 1500 wet paper to "key" for the paint.

Theuns,

6855 had the "V" shaped aerial above the cockpit, the slant of the aerial was forwards ( as a C-47TP it had a rearward slanting aerial).

No horseshoe thingy under the nose only the standard pitot tubes.

The rear aerial is above the 7th window (stbd) in centre of fuselage, behind the "towlrails".

Exhaust cooler also PRU blue.

Don't forget the "handrail" aerial above the cockpit and the wire aerial from the vertical stabiliser ( roughly in line with the bottom rib of the upper section of the rudder) to just in front of towlrails (above 2nd window stbd side)!
