Well, if the person in power decides that we go with SAAF Transport/Recon etc... I will do the Broplan P.166S Albatross and maybe the Frog Shackleton, both obviously 1/72.

Like you if they go for SAAF trans/Recon for the GB then I will complete my 1/48 C-130 (only cockpit section built at moment), as well as my 1/72 Shackleton MR3 and C-160 Transall or even a 1/96 Viscount series 700 (SAAF 150 'Casteel').

For fast movers I have my 1/48 Buccaneer (to complete) and Mirage F1AZ (to build from start).

I would think that a model needs to be 80% or so unbuilt to be a GB. Other imput welcome.

It seems that TPT, Light plane, recon is the one that most want to build??

If it a case of 80% unbuilt then it would have to be my 1/48 Herc or purchase and build a Viscount or my non started Mirage F1AZ.
Also unless the GB is fixed wing only, don't forget the helos that are used for transport and recon - Puma, Frelon, Alouette III, etc.

Ok fair enough I'll reconsider the c-130

I do have a Schematic Shackleton 1/72 which looks like a challenging build - might just have to step up to the plate with that one here

I think that rotorcraft should maybe be a GB all by themselves.

So is the concencus that "Tpt,light planes, recon" one is the most popular for next GB??

I would like to forward a sugestion that as we don't have 9 months r 3 GB's we maybe start the next GB from 15 April to 30 June. This gives us 2,5 months for each of the 3 remaining GB's

Then it could be fast movers 1 July to 15 Sept. (if this is what most builders want as a theme)

Lastly Rotorcraft from 16 Sept. to end of 2012 (think most would take a break from models over Des holidays anyway.)

I know the first GB runs till end of April, but I think most wouldn't mind a slight overlap of the two GB's??

This is just a sugestion, use it......don't use it

I totally forgot, Maratime patroll as pointed out will also fall under the TPT GB.

This will be all SAAF and "saaf allies" aswell as Southern African enimy state fixedwing aircraft.

So get your Shacs and Albats ready \:D/

Theuns
PS @ Mods; with all the other GB sites I have seen, the front page of the GB thread will contain the pix of the completed models with specs of model and builder's details, will it not work here aswell??

I suppose we can always edit the first post to include those details at the end of the GB.

I'm easy with any theme, but how about Bombers/Seaplane (flying boats) used by the SAAF or flown by SAAF personnel from 1940 - 1945 or aircraft used at the training wings in SA during WW2 (1940 - 1945) and only aircraft from those periods can be built rather than a large time period.
Another one is the what if range but in SAAF colours only.

But a theme needs to be decided and hopefully more builders will join in this time.

I really like the sound of that. I have never done a group build before because I build so slowly, but I may just break my duck with this.

I agree with the 'What If ' idea. I can just visualise the following with the SAAF Castle/Bok or Eagle marking or the cookie cutter and different colour scheme to what they had.

1) F14 Tomcat
2) F15 Eagle
3) B1 Lancer
4) Vulcan B.2
5) B2 flying wing
6) F117 Night Hawk
7) Hawker Harrier
9) Mig 29
10) B52 Stratofortress
11) Topolev TU-95
