This GB has giving me the excuse I needed to carry on with my Frelon, so if possible may I join? It is in the same state as the last update in the SAAF section.

Yeah looks like it, I cracked on and finished my Mustang, so it's time to make progress on the Frelon.

Small update on my MD500s.

Scratch built the instruments and the collective pitch levers as well as a few other details in the cockpit. Not that great but its better than nothing.

Critique welcome!

I completed the basic "innerds" of my MiL. The fit of the parts sofar was rather good, eccept for the rear cabin bulkhead that fouled against the front edge of the main undercart bay. Just needed to cut and file it a bit.

Here it is before I closed the fuse.

Can anyone tell me what this "round thing" is mounted behind the rotor shaft? It looks like some form of radar detector or something :? I habe a pix of the Angolan Mil 24 and unless I am going blind I can not see it on there, onlt the mound is visable. Any idaes???

Evening All

Great work on current builds gents, Theuns you Hind is coming on nicely!! ChopperPilot great work on the cockpit!!

Iv'e decided not to enter the Frelon into the GB as it going to be a seriously long term project so instead I went into the stash and pulled out Revell's 1/32 Alouette II. I will be adding scratch detail in the cabin and plumbing the engine to spice up the detail level a bit. Hell I might even order Eduard's PE set for it too.

This should be fun!!

I've started work on the engine and the rear seat this evening. No pics as yet as there is not much to take photo's of yet.

I will post some progress pics tomorrow afternoon.

Cheers
Brenden

Front page updated.

Interesting to see the Allo 2 with wheels on the skids!
Are you going with the OD/dayglow colours? Wonder if someone makes a 1/48 or even a 1/72 Allo 2 somewhere...

The Hind is lying just gathering dust for now, There is sanding to be done and I hate that!. As soon as there are no other projects with something interesting to do I'll get to the sanding bit #-o

I might have a 1/48 Westland Wasp and 1/72 Puma on the way....stay tuned

Hi guys

Mach 2 also made a Alo II kit in 1/72, it is plastic injection but with a lot of flash and the detail is quite bad.
Alot of sanding is needed to make it a decent kit, the fit of the parts is also not the best. But with some patience it can turn out to be a nice kit.

Theuns where do you find the time to build so many kits  The hind is looking good so far :smt023
I will start posting some pics of my progress, building has been a bit slow lately.

I actually don't heve the time I need to build all the things I have inmind :( When I don't work on cantract I have loads of time but usually no $ to build anything and when I have the $ I don't have the time or energy#-o
I have been building up the model stach for the "lean years"
I have been gathering some info on the SAAF S-55 I want to do , some pix of my proposed colour sceeme in the "SAAF builds /S-55" thread.

I built the 1/32 Revell Allo 2 some time ago and the boom needs some work as it was very warped, othewise a cool model.

As soon as I replace the few antennas I lost during sanding i will start to slap some paint on it. I really don't know why I did the cabin interior, no setail is visable anyway

I also have a 1/72 S-55 waiting to be built =P~

Great work Theuns

Some progress being made on the Alouette.

Got the tail boom straightened and together and on the skids. That was a fiddly job and a terrifying prospect of removing the parts from the sprue's.

Apologies for the shitty pics.

Next up will be the engine and fuel cell.

Cheer for looking

IIRC the boom is basically the three sides of the lattuce beam that is glued to form the tri-angle. On myu kit they were very warped and needed to glued straight!
