My next build, Airfix Ju-87.

First impressions, it is a large kit, a lot of plastic. Opened box, many parts broken off the sprue.

The numbers for the parts are all over the place, and it is hide and seek to find parts on the sprue.

I have come by some Vajello Model Air paint as well and will test it on this build.

Yes sir I will be tuned in for this one to see where not to "sukkel" with mine
Let me know what parts you need to locate on what sprues, I will compare to mine.

Are you going for the Trop colours?

Check the detail this oke built into his!http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/54254-airfix-124-scale-ju-87b-2-stuka-cutaway/
Here is another noce builsd thread - http://www.largescaleplanes.com/article ... hp?aid=909

Now I am tempted to start mine and do a GB with you before I tackle the 1/24 Tiffy
Are you going out of box of AM bling?

Thanks T :smt023

Started with the cockpit this morning, first of all to compare the colors;

According to the instruction sheet the majority of the cockpit is finished in Humbrol 78, which is Tamiya XF22 RLM Grey, the Vajello match is Model Air 71-047 'US Grey', when looking at some on-line photos, this is fairly close, although I have seen different colors in the cockpits too, so for my build I'll stick to RLM Grey, using the Vsajello equivalent. No thinning required, and the paint goes on smooth.

The basic cockpit:

Image

Other parts are said to be Humbrol 79 'Blue Grey', the closest naming I get is RLM84 Graublau 'Grey Blue' (Vajello 71-103)

Result so far, may darken the RL84 with some pastel shading... to get it a bit darker too.

This was the plan, after scrounging my available colors - it'll be the classic greens. No tan color here in my stash of paints :( . The cost of ordering a single color is not economical. We do not have the luxury of popping into a local hobby store, they are non existent in the Sandpit.

\:D/

Our weekends are Friday and Saturday. No Redbull required, that only makes me sleepy...

See how far can progress today. Hope to work on cockpit and have it look like something by this evening. My goal is 24 days, a 'page of the instruction sheet a day....' however we know it never works that way. However, I need to finish all my kits before I buy another, so there is a scene of urgency too...

Waiting:

Complete F15E.
Complete Shackleton - Parts missing, so maybe put this one out of the race for now.
Unstarted: Mirage IIIC (1/32)
Unstarted: Mirage IIIB (1/48)
Unstarted: Mirage IIIC (1/48)
Unstarted: Spitfire (1/24)
Unstarted: F22 Raptor (1/48)
Unstarted: Canberra (1/48)
Unstarted: SAAF What if build for 2016 (1/72)
Unstarted: Skymaster (1/72)

Why the 'urgency', I need to get a 1/32 Hunter....

Nah that mustprang is to intence for an all out "assault build" I do a bit then when I loose oomph on it I do something else a bit. That way I can apreciate the mustprang build better.

What 1/48 F22 you got? I also have an Italeri 1.48 one here waiting in the wings :)

Cockpit Panel in progress

Image

Initial cockpit assembly complete

Image

Some wiring added, and some dirty-up time

Image

Enjoy this the most, from reference photos, the Ju-87's had dirty and weathered cockpits.

Does your instructions call for an all over RLM 66 grey interior colour? My heller ones call for a mix of 02 and 66.

I have seen some early 87's with a basic RLM 02 interior.....all very confusing.

Jip, Airfix says Humbrol 78, the apparent equivalent which is Tamiya XF22 RLM Grey. Seen so many photos with different shades and schemes, confusing so will leave this one as such

Also seen with the overall 'green cockpit'...

Think one should call this one builder's discretion.

Some different pics and schemes

I have been googling like mad and it seems 87's built before late '41 was all over RLM 02 with the controll boxes in RLM 66. Later after '41 the started changing to 66 so unless someone can prove when a 87 was built they can not say defenately if it was green or grey :)

I rather like the 02 as a basic colour and as mine will be a BoB plane it is most likely correct in 02.
Here is an interesting pix of the IP.
