As promised here are my Vampire T.55/ T.11 and FB.52/ FB.9. These are the Hobby Boss 1/48 kits as I put my 1/48 Classic Airframe kits on hold due to time constraints work wise.
Time from start to finish on both aircraft was approx 1 week working for 1 - 2hours a night.

Only the Vampire T.55/ T.11 carried RhAF markings. Also it was the only type of aircraft not to have a brown underside.

Those are some really nice builds, well done.

Did you scratchbuild the brownings on your Alouette or are they aftermarket? I ask because I plan to build an Alo with Brownings sometime soon.

The brownings and cannon were aftermarket parts. These are in white metal, but the mountings and ammo boxes are scratch built. The site I got the guns from from is now shutdown but you can get resin aftermarket brownings from the following site: http://www.neomega-resin.com
They cost GB£5.00 a set and you will have to email the sales office first as they are not in their online catalogue.
The air filters and anti SAM shrouds were scratch built, as was most of the cockpit and seating.

An awsome collection! =D>

I love the Vamps,

But are the Vampires really by Hobby Boss?

Again a beautiful collection.

Sorry I did not read the model kit labels correctly (old age catching up). The Vampires are actually Hobbycraft kits.

For those who are interested in the RhAF the July issue of the Flypat magazine has a 7 page article on the Rhodesian Hunters.

Two more 1/48 models to add to my RhAF collection. These are the Tiger Moth and Harvard done in Southern Rhodesian Air Force (SRAF) markings & colours. Decals are home made.

de Havilland Tiger Moth
Tiger Moth done using a SMER kit.
Still to be done are:
1) All the stringers.
2) Rudder and elevator control wires.

this plane is on display in the Military museum at Gweru, Zimbabwe.

Stunning collection there Vulcan!

I have two 1/72 and one 1/48 Hunter destined to become RhAF subjects.

On a side note: Do you have any pictures of Rhodesia’s sole two-seater Hawker Hunter (T.Mk 87 I think). I have one resouce claiming that Rhodesia operated a single two-seater Hunter but I am unable to verify this with Google. Cheers,

Rhodesia only operated the single seat Hunter FGA.9s.
The Air Force of Zimbabwe operated a single 2 seater T.Mk87 Hunter. This was obtained in 1982 when Hunters from Kenyan were bought to replace lost/damaged Hunters.
The 2 seater was done in the dark green/grey camo and sky undersides. It carried the AFZ markings.
I have copies of some photos of it and the other replacement Hunters being delivered, but they are not wearing any markings.
Will try to dig them out and post
