Here's another really nice simple Hasegawa kit build. The most effort was in the masking and painting. I decided to do mine as a war weary Jug operated in the late '40s/early '50s by the Dominican Republic Air Force.

Only detail added were seat belts, ignition wires and brake hydraulic hoses.

I used Tamiya lacquer LP-11 Silver over a base of Tamiya X-1 black. Various panels were masked and painted with varying mixes of LP-11 / X-1. Undercarriage bays were painted in Mr. Colour Interior Green. All markings were masked using masks done by Herman (dankie meneer) and airbrushed on with the exception of the squadron badge which was printed onto clear decal film - not sure if the pink on the squadron badge is correct as colour images are either washed out or too dark.... I also added a mottle over the silver using a mix of LP-11/X-1 and a mottle template.

I added a wash using MiG starship wash was added and sealed with Tamiya X-22 gloss varnish. Some added weathering using black pastel dust and another coat of X-22 to seal everything in.

Oh yes, I added the gun barrels using hollow brass tubing. Should have painted the aft deck behind the seat in interior green

Very nice build, thanks for showing. =D>

Even saw a P-51D Mustang in the photo, similar to the Mustang the SAAF Museum obtained from the Dominican Air Force.

Yes, I have another 32nd Mustang to do as a Dominican Republic F-51 with big shark teeth. I'm hoping one of the Dominican aeries in the reference photos I have is actually our "Patsy Dawn" Mustang. :D

Thanks Bushpig and Dean.

Regarding the South African Air Force museum P-51D Mustang - as we know it's an ex-Dominican Air Force aircraft (serial 44-72202) FAD1917. I got hold of the Domican Republic Air Force enthusiasts group and they sent me two photos of FAD1917 whist in Domican service - I'll post them later today.
