Good day,

I need your opinion please. On the Mirage IIICZ fresh from the factory in the 60's, would the gear wells have been all aluminium or would they already have been painted yellow chromate/dark green as in Mistral's photos? I am still busy with my Eduard kit which will be in the silver delivery scheme.

Thanks for any help,

Regards,

Pierre

Chromate :D . Nose bay also either chromate or aluminium. Early main gear doors - some were chromate but generally aluminium. Nose gear doors aluminium. One thing I've realized about IIICZ is that there were so many subtle variations to colour schemes.

What metallic colors are you going to use? I have good experiences with Gunze C8 and C104. They behave like normal Gunze and makes great metal finish. You can tone them with other Gunze C colors to get more shades on various panels.
I bet there are even better option like Alcad or AK super metallic colors but just check out some work with those Gunze colors. :smt023

No one stocks Gunze in SA. I use Tamiya aluminium acrylic or enamel.

Hi patrikf, exactly the last two you mentioned. I just received a batch of AK super metallics and AK's own ALCLAD range. I hope I can manage since the Eduard kit needs a lot of work. It will be shame if I stuff it up during the paint stage. I might have to try the Tamiya stuff.

Those AK/Alcads should be way better than Tamiya range. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to try them on my own.
Eduard mirage III indeed needs lot of work. It's old kit.. I have some fitment problems on air intakes. I had to putty them multiple times and they're not good. Actually I stuck at this stage.
I am curious if Hobby Boss is better or the same.
