I kept the overall finish quite clean - minimal weathering. Photos I have show the SAN birds to be spotless :

I added covers to the intakes and exhaust to add some colour.

Overall impressions of the kit and ScaleWorx resin bits :
Kit - really nice with a really tight fit everywhere and great detail. Typical of the new Airfix kits. Worth spending money on.
ScaleWorx resin - nicely cast requiring little work in terms of removing casting blocks. Pieces fit well onto kit using superglue. Decals were nice (MavDecals I assume) however, one or two were undersized. No problem though as one can just use the kit decals (the large rescue arrow on the sliding doors as an example). The only real issue is the "SA Navy" which is too large. Hopefully John / MavDecals will correct this. Some of the resin parts are really nicely detailed such as the large tail boom antenna and the nose section with all the firings and bumps for avionics etc. The FLIR / nose sight is also a really neat little piece of casting. Would I recommend it - absolutely. ! :smt023

Overall this was an easy build and took me 1.5 months of on and off building.

Came out really nice. I have got the 1/72 set and based on your result think I should give it a go.

Hey Mistral,

The Lynx turned out great 8)

I reckon you may have a winner for the MOY :smt023

Stratobat

It is a very operational looking little chopper, brilliantly built :smt023 . Doesn't it make you wish there was a decent Wasp to go with it?

Thanks gents :smt023 .

Stratobat, definitely not MOY quality compared to those that have won in the past couple of years.

Sean, I agree on the Wasp. But I'd really like a Wasp and Alo III in 32nd scale :D . Alo III most probably the most widely used military / paramilitary light helicopter (apart from the Hueys). I'm amazed that it has not received coverage in both 48th and 32nd.

Alo 111 came out in 1/48 from Fujimi.

I have one in the stash.

Mistral ,

Awesome model you built , The real one gave us a good look at her few weeks back on the the golfcourse with a few low passes going by on its business. As a naval helicopter this is definitely much more high tech aircraft than the older Wasp. With the ageing Oryx and all sorts of other Types in Service like Augusta 109, Oryx ; Bk117,Rooivalk in a Perfect world something like the WG13 Lynx variants would cover the job of all of these , and having the mk64's in the Navy I am sure many maintanennce issues would be more standardized. The Lynx is super fast and super quiet compared to many others.

I have recently done a bad bad thing and bought a fujimi wasp and Alouette on ebay , well waited 6 weeks to get here and they are like hens teeth and unicorn with racing stripes and even more so at a reasonable price. Also very surprized nobody has taken on a new tool Alouette , only reason I can come up with is the old Heller 1:72 kit is still on the market and they are for sale for 12euro and sort of scratches the itch for those that want to build a alouette, same for a Puma kit either Matchbox or Revell in 1/32 or some old Airfix Heller Kit in 1/72. Slowly but surely many new tool kits are coming up and maybe just need to be a little patient,

Yes, but like hen's teeth (to quote Foddy 8 in agreement) I'm sure. Would love a 32nd one with a 20mm door gun !!!

Only one way to find out, but you'll have to wait a few months :smt023

Heller released an Alouette III in 1/48 scale as well but it's also getting hard to find.
