Started Mirage IIIC from Eduard (48th scale). First Eduard kit I've built - has funny soft plastic making cutting a bit tricky.

First pics are of the main undercarriage bay components - nice fit.

Nice start.

I enjoyed putting mine together. I encountered 2 slight problems - intakes and windshield. I found attaching the intakes to the lower fuselage/wings enabled a better overall fit than if you followed the instructions. The windshield also had a slight step where it joins the fuselage (front end). Otherwise, lovely kit.

Funny you say that, did not think of it in that way. Just remember recalibrating how I used my knife. It was also my first Eduard kit, taken a liking to them, I think there detail is incredible.

I second the idea with the intakes. :smt023 I took that hint from another build.

Here's the pre-printed photoetch instrument panel in bits and then partially assembled - very neat indeed - better than trying to hand paint with a single bristle brush !!

Here's the cockpit and completed panel - lost the clear plastic HUD to the great plastic eating carpet god so had to scratch build one - aargh....

Neat touch - nose weight - snugly kept in place with pieces of plastic rod.

The nose weight is handy.

I used to have a carpet monster as well, but luckily have tiles now.

I liked this kit so much by seeing what you've done so far and by other members on the forum, that I went and got myself one (and I usually build 1/72  ). The idea was to see if it can be used as a base for some of my conversions, but damn the :smt076 unconventional construction of the forward and lower fuselage assemblies makes it :smt076 extremely difficult...

It is still a very nice kit out of the box though... :smt050

Cheers

Aha, that does not mean you are going to stop there, I'm sure? You have ways and means! Die Boer maak n plan. I converted mine into a III BZ, and nogal, that is my first attempt of butchering a kit, not that I knew where I was going. I saw a post where somone turned it into a Cheetah C with your conversion set.

Quite right Jeffrey,

I havent given up. I saw what you did for the BZ, but I havent seen a successful Cheetah C fitment yet. I think the 1/48 Eduard/Hobbyboss kit is gorgeous, and would be great for my conversions and possibly other subjects. I think I'm going to start a new thread for this soon, investigating various applications and conversions for these kits. :-k

Cheers
John

I've been looking for that build I saw, but can't find it. :smt093

Here's an update :

Cockpit glued in place - bits and pieces added to front and rear with pieces of stretched sprue and plastic rod to make everything a bit busier.
