Hi All,

Sorry if this is a repeated post for some of you but I'm looking for some info on the SAAF Hawk MK120. I'm putting together a model kit for my dad for christmas, and have managed to get hold of decals, and an airfix kit is easily accesible, but I'm not too sure what paint colours I need to buy.

Could anyone tell me which Humbrol colours I could buy to complete this gift?
I have a photo of the plane but I don't know how to attach it, so can show a pic if anyone can give me any instructions?

Thanks

H126 - FS36320
H127 - FS36375

According to the Humbrol website.

edit: very useful paint conversion chart: http://www.paint4models.com/paintchart/paintconversionchart20100101a.html#

Remember that those grey shades fade & change quickly due to the weathering of the harsh African sun ..

Here are those exact FS colours used on a Cheetah D in the "air-to-air scheme" ... so compare the colours with photo's of the actual aircraft & lighten the paint accordingly.

Cheers

Thanks for all of your help guys! I now have the model kit, paints and decals and am really excited about giving to my dad..

Avgass, do you have instructions specifially for the SAAF Hawk? I'm hoping that my dad will know what colours to paint which bit of the plane but if anyone has any instructions that they wouldn't mind providing a copy of then I'd be confident he has all he needs!

Thanks for all your help, it really is appreciated...

P.S.
I couldn't upload the photo I have as I only have it saved to my desktop computer at work, and security setting won't let me upload to the internet!

Hi twinkle - I have the paint guide from the Airfix Hawk which included the SAAF version. I think I'm correct in saying Airfix released this kit twice - once without SAAF decs and an updated release which included the SAAF option. You're in the UK, right?

PM me and we can discuss what you have and what you need. I have 3 of the SAAF Hawks so could spare an instruction sheet. I'm in the UK too so could mail it to you if you like.
