Hello folks
I have 2 urgent questions about a special paint job for the SAAF's Hercules 403, as I want to recreate it in 1:48.
Did the camouflaged Hercules 403 have the marked antennas on the fuselage like in this drawing and what color were the 403's rims?
Silver or as usual white???
I hope you can help me.

Greetings Axel

The Rims look White and the Antennas Grey.

If you want a higher Resolution I can scan it again

Photos of the actual aircraft can be found on this website: https://www.saairforce.co.za/gallery-an ... hercules/1

In short, the rims are standard white.

Thank you very much. A higher resolution would be nice.

Hello guys,
can someone please tell me the exact FS color details for the SAAF's stealthy C-130s as seen above. Or the color information from Humbrol and or Revell.

Thanks to you

The following is an extract from “A Portrait of Military Aviation in Southern Africa" by Ron Belling:

In 1975, the aircraft were painted in an olive drab (BSC298) and dark earth (BSC450) scheme applied to both the upper and lower surfaces of the aircraft. The under surfaces of the fuselage were painted dark sea grey (BSC638).

Ok, thank you very much.
But Olive Dab is also rather dark or should it be more like Olive Yellow???

Have a stress-free, happy end of the year.

It is Olive Drab BSC381-298 as what Dean posted.

So, now I would like to annoy you again with the colors.
So the dark green is dark green for the SAAF C-130, but the term dark earth really makes me despair. There are so many photos where this camouflage looks completely different. For me, dark earth is more like dark sand. So I mixed it together first. Please give your honest opinion. Thanks.

Sorry,
I don't want to bother you with my questions. I have now clarified the issue with myself.

The closest Humbrol colour to Dark Earth is H30.

This colour fades with time thus you have all the "different" colours that one see's.

A factory fresh Dark Earth will be dark in colour and the more the colour is exposed to UV rays the lighter the colour becomes.

Apologies I have been a bit scarce recently.

Oh, I'll just do it based on feeling. In photos, each color on the machines looks different, depending on the light, depending on the weather, depending on age. That's how it is and I'm happy with it.
Here under LED light. It's too cold outside.
