The split flap system essentially is a 'split' trailing edge, where the lower half moves downwards. The advantage is the upper wing surface area is maintained and the wing camber effectively increased overall. Not as efficient as Fowler flaps but better than a plain trailing edge flap. The Harvard had a full span split flap, which extended from aileron to aileron, with a centre section and two outer sections. The PC-9M has split flaps as does the Astra I would think. Spitfire and Hurricane had split flaps. Lancaster and B17 also. So configuration essentially the same for each aircraft, apart from some specifics to aircraft type.
