So this must be one of my most exciting acquisitions ... certainly the most expensive!

Original Kentron-developed Helmet Mounted Sight integrated onto the Mirage IIICZ, complete with helmet bag and carry case, circa 1982. \:D/

That is a heck of a piece, congratulations Dean. =D> =D> =D>

It has a great story and is not only historically significant to SAAF but to military aviation in general. Looks to be in pristine condition.

Very happy with today's arrival: Gueneau Headband 312-313 inner liner, used with Mk 1 helmet and Type H or A13AC mask on the Mirage IIICZ.

I don't normally post photos of all my helmet shells and spares, but thought this recent addition was quite interesting.

It is the shell of a Geno 619 ... the complete helmet looks very different! Now, the SAAF never used this helmet in service, yet here it is with an official SAAF DD782 (Unserviceable Item) tag. The SAAF must have acquired it for test and evaluation.

A gift from a friend: Russian MiG-29 ZSh-7A helmet with KM-35 mask and throat mike, complete with carry bag. :D

Continuing on the Russian theme, but with a SAAF link: Russian ZSH-5A helmet with KM-34 mask, as used by MiG-21 and MiG-23 pilots in Angola.

Another parcel collected this morning. It always nice to determine the provenance of an item and this Gueneau 317-1 helmet in great condition came together with users three logbooks!

He served as a Flight Engineer on Alouette IIIs and Pumas from 1968 to 1980, then went on to other technical roles.

Some well known names:

By coincidence, an AloIII and Puma pilot contacted me a few days ago on another matter. Looking through these logbooks, I see that the pilot often flew with the Flight Engineer!

In fact, both pilot and flight Engineer are in the photo here, although the did not fly in together for this rescue as the F/Eng flew with the Squadron OC: https://www.saairforce.co.za/forum/view ... 85#p114014

New arrival: Gueneau 317-1 helicopter helmet in great condition, apart from the plug at the end of cable having been cut off! Still, nice to add to my collection of other Gueneau 317 helmets. :D

I will look out for a plug for you Dean.

I can't guarantee anything at present.
