Newly acquired RAF A-13A/2 Aircrew Oxygen Mask from the late 1950's.

It is based in the A-13A mask which was used by the SAAF, but incorporates a "Gabb" toggle harness mounted to a hard exo-skeleton. I've not seen photos of this type of mask in SAAF service.

Anyone know if it was ever used in the SAAF?

Fantastic addition there Dean, I am envious (in a good way) at how you manage to acquire such things! @Wingman, glad to see you're still around - I still have the flightsuit!

Latest arrival: Gueneau 316 helmet. Not sure if from 85 Combat Flying School or 89 Combat Flying School (or even 5 Squadron).

Very nice goggles!

Indeed a scarce item I would presume?

Thanks Geoff.

Not too scarce as they are available on ebay, but still very welcome.

Now I'm very, very privileged to have acquired these items from the ex-OC of 42 Squadron and the leader of the Spikes Bosbok display team: Piet van Schalkwyk.

This is what the pilot wore for a display, including helmet, survival jacket and parachute:

There were only seven helmets ever sprayed in these colours.

Contents of the survival jacket:

It's so nice to acquire a collection from the actual user. :D

Dean, can you confirm if the helmets used by Mirage III pilots had the fittings for the helmet mounted sight system of the V3B, and if some do, do you know when they were installed?

The Eloptro / Kentron Helmet Mounted Sight (based on the Gueneau 316 helmet) was initially integrated onto the Mirage IIICZ in 1981, then later on the Mirage F1CZ.
