Hi Dean

In your research are you looking at helmet markings and colours?

Yup, different squadrons had different colours, some the same colours!

I've chatted to a few pilots regarding helmet colours and markings, but additional background info always welcome. 8)

Hi Dean

This particular helmet may have been used by a F-1AZ pilot. Lafe helmets were used on the F-1, and that looks like a 1 Sqn pattern.

Thanks Mars, 2 Sqn helmets were either white or red, so I was a little perplexed at a camo helmet for the Cheetah. A F1 helmet in camo does make sense. :smt023

Hi Dean

You may have a very interesting helmet there, go check out page 137 in Herman Potgieter's book "More Than Game".

That's indeed an appropriate design there Spice. Did you paint it yourself?

Envious of your collection there, must take a lot of effort.

Thanks H1017412.

That Gueneau 317 is now the subject of a restoration project.
