I am looking for info on:
Capt G Nel-Shawe, along with Cpl F Moolman were killed when their Aloutte III crashed near Lourenco Marques (Maputo) on the 8th January 1966.

I have the following information and am trying to connect the dots...
Guilleame (G.N.) Nel-Shawe (SAAF) killed in a helicopter accident in Mozambique in 1966.
Date of Birth 1923, there is a possibility that he was also a Sq 31 SAAF Liberator pilot
during WWII.
He apparently had the nickname of Jack/Jock in war time and his names may be
Guillame Nel ( GN) Shawe. His service number 1220466.
We have several sortie reports showing a Lt Nel-Shawe as pilot in 31 Sq out of Celone,
but wonder if you can confirm if it is the same person who died in the Helicopter crash
in Mozambique?

They were flying in 17 Sq SAAF at time of crash.
His year of birth, 1922, is similar to many of the WWII pilots of 31 Sq SAAF.

Thanks for any help forthcoming

I have a piece of Newspaper:

01.08.1966 Aloutte III serial no 56 Capt G Nel-Shawe and A/Cpl FH Moolman. Both did not survive.

Wil Scan it, quite brittle.

Hi there, Capt GN Nel-Shawe was my paternal grandfather. I will ask my Dad and uncle if they still have information and documents. :)
I know he was in 2 Squadron (Flying Cheetahs?) - Korean War and also WW2.
