Weren't they doing maintenance on the engines apart from all the other red tape BS they have to go through.

It is a real pity that there haven't been any in so long, especially as we had so much momentum going during the time I was there, but circumstances are out of anyone's control.
I'm sure the gents and ladies at the base are doing their best to get the bird up to spec again, but if it doesn't happen, it was good while it lasted :D

Announcement last week, Sorry we regret to inform you....................Just like a Loadshedding Announcement. Feel sorry for Lionel as he is only the messenger. Pity we dont know what politics are going on in the background. Seems someone has a hate for us maritime manne. Anyhow, no need to guess what the problems are, as the rumour mongers will be in their element.

I stumbled across this short youtube documentary on Avro Shackletons, with a specific focus on the sinking of the SS Wafra off Cape Agulhas.

The end of the video includes reference to the Ysterplaat ground runs and similar ground taxies in Coventry.



This whole channel from Mark Felton looks pretty interesting.
