Rather keep quiet about stuff you know f*kol about. Ja? Cool.

Wow! that's a surprisingly hostile comment

Shackleton ground run for 22 Feb called off due to non availability of key crew members. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Hi everyone, my first visit to your site. Are these ground runs free to the public? Or rather open to the public? And am I correct in assuming this is Ysterplaat we're talking about? I'd like very much to bring my nephew along to see these incredible aircraft.

Its open and free to the public, but bring cash if you can as there is usually a stall to buy memorbilia or if you want to make a donation.
There are also spots available on the Shackleton during the run at R500 a pop I think.

Otherwise just come and enjoy the run...for free :)

oh yes and it is at Ysterplaat.

Just to add, the security gate from the Ysterplaat Museum to the hard stand opens at 10AM. The gate closes at 10.50 am. Start up 11am.

Welcome to browse the Museum beforehand and afterwards.

Perhaps keep in hand, some ear plugs or something for the nephew. Just in case it gets too loud.
It does get very loud when they apply throttle.

Brilliant! Am I able to pay for one of the on-board runs up front at all? I mentioned it to some friends and it's escalated to a birthday gift for one of the group so a confirmed spot would be great if you expect things to get busy there.

Thanks, Jeffrey, the teen's out, the 40-somethings are in... so we'll come with earplugs anyhow.

For those not going to Fashkosh at Stellenbosch airfield, the next Shackleton ground run is on Saturday 10 May at AFB Ysterplaat. Gates open to public at 10h00, start at 11h00.

Thanks to all that made this groundrun possible. Was nice to hear the old lady sing again.
