Great shots of the Vamp there Mistral :)

Dean, congrats! This book looks interesting for sure. Even saw it listed on a major Swedish book site the other day, very cool. I took the liberty to plug it on my Twitter some week ago with a link to your shop to show some support for you running this site. (In the 'tweet' I intentionally left out the title due to the international and 140 char nature of Twitter... ) https://twitter.com/GripenNews/status/2 ... 8830713857

Hello,

I was in Italy during the month of February to do some research for my doctoral thesis (I don't know if my translation of the last word is correct  )

I returned at home at Toulon last week, and I found the book.

For now, I've only read the first two chapters (formation of SAAF and WWII). But very interesting all these testimonies to find a human side in all these events.

Great book. I can't wait to find time to read more.

I, in particular, read with interest the testimony of Leon Rubens "Invasion of Madagascar", considering the link with French history.
I have a question about it. Is it possible, for me, to post a French translation of this storie on a French forum about aviation ?
Indeed, it is very difficult to find stories about this (very sad) campaign in which our Air Force fought (with a few obsolete aircraft).

My book has now got so many post-it bookmarks stuck to the pages ... it resembles a Peacock's tail ... and the book contents are just as colourful !!!!

A great story of the inadvertent ejection from an Astra in 2009.

The book is very nice - soft cover and contains excellent pictures and drawings of the SAAF's involvement during the Bush war well as operations with the Rhodesian Security forces. Well worth getting IMHO

I've got "SAAF at War" will "SAAF's border war" add more detail to this book or is it much the same info? It sounds as if I should get this one. Please advise....?

The "SAAF at War" is a picture book (albeit a very valuable picture book), "SAAF's Border War" is a narrative that includes photos and maps.

Hello,

Following this discussion, I posted the translation of the adventures in Madagascar of Leon Rubens. But, unfortunately, I have not received interesting answers, to translate to you, except the classics: "very interesting" or "thank you for the informations about this book".

Since then I have continued to seek information about this forgotten campaign Madagascar. Unfortunately, the period of 1940 - 1944 is still difficult to study in France, considering the situation of the country at the time (with the Vichy government). it is still a "taboo subject" in France.
But I found this very interesting site with several picture on Madagacar in the years 1930 - 1940 and some pictures of French aircraft.
