I am busy going through SAAF40 sqdn ww2 war diary and came across this very interesting letter; It was written by Doug Mellor and he was co-prisoners with Jimmy Egner and Johannes "Gamat" Gouws, all from 40 sqdn at Stalag Luft III. Gouws was one of the three South Africans that were murdered for their participation in the "Great Escape" of 1944.
