On Wednesday 18 July 2012 Casa 235 from 44 squadron was flown to the SAAF Museum at Swartkops air force base, her final resting place.
The aircraft was removed from active service due to escalating operational costs due to her being one of the original CASA 235 prototypes, thus suffering from a serious shortage of spare parts as she does not use the same parts as the commercially produced versions.
She served her air force well over numerous years. The aircraft hails from the former Bophuthatswana Air Force, then being integrated into the SAAF post 1994.

The aircraft will be housed at the SAAF museum at AFB Swartkops, where she will be maintained and well looked after by a dedicated and devoted group of staff and volunteers.
Below are some photos of the flight and shutdown.

Well, the museum CO's mandate is to maintain aircraft in the condition he received them, BUT, this being a prototype and spares a major issue, i suspect ground running condition...................................
