 Post subject: SAAF Gladiators props

Hi.
Some of you guys asked me why the SAAF Gladiators had funny props.
I found in the book, My Hond, die oorlog en ek, written by the 2 Wing OC at the time, Maj Bob Preller, that he said there was a shortage of Gladiator props late 1941, and Britain was not sending them any replacements. The Armaments Officer of the Sqdn shortened the blades of the SM 79's they found and fitted these props to the Gladiators and they worked perfectly. This looks like to have been done about August 1941, so if you find any Gladiators serials on strength after this date they would most likely have had SM 79 props.
