Hi Mars That is 169 at Taba Tshwane. One of the (at least 2) Mirage F1 decoys. Read the following thread for some information: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4650&p=46772&hilit=mirage+decoy#p46772 |

A question that I always wondered about: Why were the F1CZ's not sold in the same way as some of the AZ's? It seems they all found their way directly to universities & museums. |

A couple more points for selling the AZ ahead of CZ: there were fewer F1 CZ airframes than F1 AZ - we started with two squadrons of AZ and one squadron of CZ. Also I suspect the AZs were generally in better condition / more reliable than CZs - in particular the Cyrano IV radar on the CZs had very low reliability, the AZs had less avionics to go wrong. |

The CZs were retired in 1992. The arms embargo was still in place at the time and selling the aircraft would have been extremely difficult, even if they were complete with engines. |

207 arrived at her new home at the Stellenbosch Flying Club on the evening of 03 April 2019 after having been donated to the club by the Stellenbosch University. She was disassembled and moved with the very kind assistance of the Paramount Group and will go on permanent display at the club. She is in exceptional if dusty condition after 20 years 3 metres up on her stands and will make a fantastic addition to the appeal and interest value in a visit to the field. |

Great stuff Mamba, thanks. Just hope that sitting in the open, even if under a canopy, does not start the deterioration/corrosion process. |
