Why did we not just buy the C130J that was offered by UK?
We could off had a inflight refueling capability again.

I have seen a post elsewhere which says the SAAF C-130B (409) is no longer parked outside on the apron. Whether this means it has been taken inside for the start of the refurbishment process I don't know. I will keep you posted.

Still think the SAAF is throwing their money away, get 4 C390, 4 C295 and 4 Y-20BE. transport sorted. BONUS 2 of those types from BRICS partners. Marshalls must be laughing at this 'upgrade', on a C-130B model of all things. RAAF is retiring their 1st batch of C-130J's and replacing them with new builds...makes you think.

The money allocated for the Herc fleet won't buy a single airframe off that list, nevermind a squadron worth.

Sure the Chinese would give us Y-20's at a good price. Others we'd have to pay for.
