Hi
The air force took delivery of 22 S.E.5a aircraft (# 301 to 322). It appears that only six aircraft were written-off due to accidents, the first occurred on 27 February 1922 and last accident was reported on 13 September 1930.
I would appreciate any assistance in obtaining photographs / colour profile drawings of the South African Air Force’s ‘Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5’ aircraft or point to a possible source or contact that I can approach, please. Any of the following information will be greatly appreciated too:
1. Date of Order 2. First SAAF Aircraft Flight (at manufacturer) 3. First Delivery Date (to SAAF) / Hand-Over to SAAF 4. First Delivery Date to SAAF Squadron 5. First Flight in South Africa 6. Last Flight in South Africa 7. Unit cost per aircraft 8. Any unique names / nicknames given to the aircraft while in service. 9. Date of service Withdrawal
Best regards, a conditional thanks for any replies.
