There is one transfer pump, hydraulically operated fitted onto the forward transfer unit. Transfer units piping connected to all tanks. Fuel flow operates jet pumps (venturi effect) in each tank, transferring fuel to transfer unit where valve operations controle the end destination of fuel. There is 1 boost pump, gravity fed as a backup. Some tanks has flapper valves to facilitate fuel flow one-way from adjacent tanks to main. If all fails. Gravity feeds engine but only available fuel amount is shown to aircrew.

Its a good system which rarely gives problems

There's no longer separate musterings for technicians on Gripen.
