From Aviation Central.

Quote:
Saturday, 01 February we will see the 1st Flight Training day at the SAAF Museum Swartkop.
This is also the official Birthday of the South African Air Force. Most Aircraft taking part in the Festivities and Parade day Friday the 31st will only depart on the Saturday early morning.

Join the South African Airforce Saturday 01 Feb for an open day inconjunction with the Monthly Flight Training day.
You will get to see some current SAAF Aircraft, Jets, Choppers, Falcons and more.
Aircraft is subject to availability.

NOT Airshow! Just SAAF Aircraft departing with an quick flypast and maybe a roll or two..

The resident Windsock restaurant will be open and Friends of SAAF museum Boerewors rolls will be on sale.
No Alcohol to be taken into the base.
Free entry, no booking needed.

Donations towards the Museum to keep aircraft flying is always welcome!

Before any asks, yes there will be many, many photo's.

Got home fatigued, sun burnt, ears were ringing, dehydrated, covered in sand & grime, was rotor blasted at least 7 times. What a great way to spend the the SAAF's anniversary, wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else.
It was a privilege to be at AFB Swartkop today to celebrate 100 years, the date was not lost on the SAAF. =D>

The training day was very well organised and well supported. Lots of treats.

Great Oryx, Augusta, Rooivalk departures
C47TP display
Rooivalk display
Caravan display
Silver Falcons display
Alouette display
Hawk display
Gripen display
Museum aircraft training

Based on today I think we are in for a good year, regardless of the theme.
