SAAF C-130BZ 403 made a refuelling stop at Bridgetown Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados on 17 December 2019.

Given that the last time a SAAF C-130BZ landed in Barbados it was as a stop en route to Cuba to transport Op Thusano cargo, it's likely this is for the same purpose. (https://www.africandefence.net/destination-of-mystery-air-force-hercules-flight-revealed/)

Does anyone here have any further details?

I know that it came back with last stop St. Helena before Waterkloof.

Thanks, that's what I had suspected but couldn't confirm. What was the date and time of the return leg?

I'll try and find out out. Was around 30 December I think, but I'll confirm.

Indeed. You would not believe that’s a 57 year old aeroplane at first glance!

Staying with the theme, can anyone tell me what became of the ex-USA C-130's that the SAAF didn't incorporate into the fleet?

Its ironic though that an aircraft used in the bush war is now being used to fly to Cuba.

Still a testament to Lockheed engineering.
