Good Morning from South Australia,

I am a De Havilland DH-94 Moth Minor owner from South Australia (VH-AIB) and am seeking information on Moth Minor aircraft in South Africa.

My research shows there were two Moth mInor aircraft in SA that were impressed into service with the SAAF during WW2 circa 1940.
ZS-ARE that became SAAF 1474 and, ZS ARF that became SAAF 2012.

I believe that SAAF 1474 was destroyed in a mid-air collision, but am unable to find any further information about the fate of SAAF 2012 (ZS-ARF).

Can anyone shed light on what happened to this aircraft (SAAF 2012)?

Hi Steve,

Got this info from Avcom, seems that ZS-ARF was stripped for spares(reduce to produce) back in 1944
