Anybody have some I can take off their hands? If I can find a spray can that will be 1st prize. Tons and tons available in US and UK, but cant ship spray paints. Locals paint shops just say, What? never heard of that.

I have a little bit left of a Testors enamel, but wont last me.

** Edit, I found a Tamiya XF4. I will lower my standards and use an Acrylic..... [-X [-X :D :D

Ja Humbrol 81 is good :smt023

XF-4 is availed in enamel. If using the Tamiya acrylic, best to thin with Tamiya Laquer Thinner rather than water or other. Thinned like this, the acrylic goes on beautifully smooth and is bullet proof once dry.

Haven't tried with normal Laquer thinners. Try a small amount - I'm sure it'll be OK. There are various grades of thinners with some being rather "hot" which can burn the plastic if airbrushed too "wet". I use E-thinners with Tamiya enamels and Tamiya Laquer thinners with Tamiya acrylics. Best to figure out what fits best for you. :smt023

I use methylated spirits for my Tamiya and Gunze Acrylics.
It's easily available and cheap. Never had any issues using that-

Ah yes good old meths. Do you run if through a loaf of white bread before using :?: 8)

It's actually interesting though - I'm not sure Tamiya acrylics are really acrylics.....

Neither actually since I prefer my bread with butter
The advantage is that I only need one bottle for thinning and cleaning up.

I find it sprays better than the Tamiya thinners that they sell in the small glass bottles.
Thinning Gunze acrylics with it, I manage to spray even the german mottle in 1/72

Must try that. Only concern I would have is that meths may not "bite" into the plastic. Have you tried masking over it ?

Certainly, I mask all my models. I use self made Vinyl masks for all my markings and Tamiya tape for everything else. I never had a problem with paint coming off.
About Tamiya not being real acrylics I'm not sure. You can certainly mix them with Gunze acrylics without problems.

The Tamiya acrylics have a really nasty chemical smell to them. Unlike LifeColour or Revell. But I guess you get different kinds of acrylic formulae.
