Hi Guys,

Does anybody have any information regarding the next Nationals?

In Port Elizabeth at SAAF Museum. Around Easter. I'm sure Herman will post proper details.

Where do you live ? If in Pta / Jhb why not join GRSM and get onto their mailing list. They send out regular updates.

As Mistral has said

The Nats will be held over Easter weekend(30/03/2018- 01/04/2018) next year in PE.

As per PE, the entries will open beginning January.

Apart from that not much info yet

Hi Guys,

Thank you for the information :smt023

I stumbled upon the following site, which has some more information on it as well.

- Eastern Cape Scale Modellers.

- Eastern Cape Scale Modellers Nationals Page.

On the Nationals page, if you click "ENTER HERE" it loads an online entry form which has more information on it, including Class Types. I'm not sure whether these have been finalised yet so it would probably be best to wait until January to register as per HP's post above.

Regarding joining GRSM, it is something I have thought about. I heard that you guys may be having a World War One themed meeting/ competition some time next year, which sounds interesting 8)

Regards,
Stratobat

You are more than welcome to attend the next meeting , as much as we have themes modellers can bring any project they want. There is no telling what will actually be brought on the day.

It is a groupbuild for next year to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War 1.
Currently the guys are building a huge Diorama in 1/72 depicting bth sides of the war, from aircraft to armour. There is a Facebook page for this. Will link it up this evening when I am back home. Cannot access FB here at work

Thank you for the invite :smt023

I may not be able to attend the meetings this year but I'll make an effort to come through in the new year. I'll send you a PM closer to the time to confirm the meeting dates and times, etc.

Would this be planned for the November meeting next year?

Only got back from PE yesterday. Decided to include some leave time and make a whole vacation out of the trip.
Visit a small hobby shop in PE called Brian's Hobbies. Small but nice and well priced. Walked out with a couple of kits

There is a gallery on the nats page with all the photo's

Hi Guys,

It looks like some excellent models were put on the table =D>

Looking at the results, were there only two Ships categories?

Ships - Mechanically Powered (Class 3A - All Scales)
Ships - Sail or Oar Powered (Class 3B - All Scales)

Regards,
Stratobat

Hi Guys,

Okay, I'll concede that the question may seem a little odd, given that the results page clearly shows only two Ship classes, but don't you think it's a little restrictive, in a sense, to only have two ship classes with combined scales in each class?

In a hypothetical scenario, it could be quite possible for someone entering a model of a 1/700 waterline destroyer to find themselves competing against someone who has entered a 1/200 full hull battleship.

Anybody have any thoughts or opinions on this?

Regards,
Stratobat
