I reckon a large portion of mojo loss is due to folks complicating their builds and trying for perfection.
I think model kits have also just become more involved as the years have gone by. There's more parts, decal options and it's not uncommon to find photo-etch and/or resin in a kit these days either. I suspect a lot of modellers hit burnout because they're essentially moving from one long term project to another.

The clubs are pushing people to build anything to the highest standard possible. It does not seem to push the fun factor in it anymore.
I can't say that I have experienced this myself in the clubs that I have been a member of.
I think most clubs are more focused on trying to retain membership than pressuring the guys to build to a high standard but I suppose this varies from club to club?

Don't be discouraged from putting your models on the table because you don't feel they're up to standard. We tend to be overly critical of our own work and the reality is that sometimes it's not half as bad as we think it is. Also remember that unless you are building on commission, nobody really has the right to dictate how you build your own models and you're certainly not obliged to maintain someone else's standards
