Hi Guys, anybody have an old Spitfire 1/48 Vb laying around. I need a rudder. Our pup ate mine and I would like to complete the kit.

Hey Drifter,

You may find that the quickest solution would be to make one out of plastic card.

If you do decide to give it a try, take a couple of sheets of plastic card and laminate together until you have the correct cross sectional thickness (Use normal plastic glue). Then, using a scalpel and a file square up the surface that mates to the tail. Once you've done that, round over the trailing edges and sand to the correct thickness.

Paint everything with Tamiya's Liquid Surface Primer and then give one last sanding with 1000 grit wet and dry sandpaper (Used wet) before attaching to the model.

I know it can seem a little daunting but I hope this helps.

Regards,
Stratobat

I was thinking that will be my only option. Thanks. Might even cut up the wing section of an old 1/24 Hurricane I use as a test mule to get the correct plastic.

Sorry...no luck. The two MK Vb's I have got have the rudder molded as part of the fuselage...if that makes sense

Scratch build it with laminated plastic card. It's easier than you think. Just a bit of elbow grease to file it into shape.
