This is an excellent tutorial to illustrate the technique  all of us on Dean's forum should be using to paint Instrument Panels, wonder how the exteriors of the kits look, magnificent.

Saw this video a year or two ago, cannot believe how someone can destroy an instrument panel like this guy does! If it was a younger person, starting as we all did as small boys, it may have been fine, but for an adult - who I believe has been building for some time (I suppose), man.... Maybe this was his first model build, then it is acceptable.

Eish. Not a good job. What's with those brushes he uses ? That's where half the problem lies.

Hey Guys,

I usually just put on the base colour and then drybrush the instrument bezels with a little silver.
Switches, knobs and miscellaneous details are picked out using a small pointed brush with a little red, green, blue, etc.

Anybody got any other tips and techniques?

Regards,
Stratobat

Hey Spice,

Winsor & Newton make a 0000 size brush (Under their Cotman range) that has a profile like a .3mm airbrush needle. The bristles extend roughly 5mm past the ferrule. Perfect for painting eyes on figures but it can also be used for painting extremely small details like needles on gauges etc.
