Mistral, the Nichimo is an absolute gem of a kit!!
I thought I was getting royally ripped off by the shop where I got the Herc and C172 from, but seeing as I only paid R255 or so for the Nichimo, and it sells for +$100 online most of the time.. I reckon it balances out. The Herc was way overpriced but also as rare as an honest politician. (I've only ever seen a single C-130E/H in 48, and I bought it after much deliberation). The guy at the shop actually told me to take the C172 over the Herc because it is a much much more valuable kit (in the long run). The only things my kit is missing, are the pilot/crew figures, but it has the much more important electric motor.
I'll post an inbox review after Wed if anyone is curious. When I do build it, it will be a wonderful 'chicken stick' demonstration model for me to use in my lectures. Maybe.
Iamsam... some of the kits I've had since before I was 17!!! The Catalina, P-47D, P-51C, I got before I finished school... so must be 10 years now at least (for the Cat much more!). I am going to be all of 27 later this year.. So plenty of time to build yet.
You'll also need to slowly start to persuade your significant other, that spending money on plastic, is a far better alternative to spending money in the pub with ye mates (you only pissing it away anyways
). I am very fortunate that my girlfriend understand my desire to learn about each aircraft I build, and she would much rather me spend money on models than pc games. I'm a hopeless BF3 addict as well... the troubles of my generation
Vlamgat.. your stash doesnt look too shabby either. I see one or two kits in there that I would happily add to my own if I ever found them. I spy, with my little eye.... that Gripen kit, a Mirage 3 B/C, a few Skyhawks, two Pumas, and a Tempest.
That Hawkeye is quite a cool kit, can't say I'd ever buy and build one.. but maybe one day.
I am always curious to see what other guys collect...
